Reports reveal that Zubeen initially wore a life jacket while swimming, but returned to the yacht to remove it, mentioning it was uncomfortable. He then jumped back into the sea, where the fatal accident occurred.

### Fans to Pay Tribute at Guwahati’s Sarusajai Stadium

Zubeen Garg’s post-mortem has been completed in Singapore, and his mortal remains have been brought back to India for the final rites. The singer’s body is scheduled to arrive in Delhi tonight and will be transported to his residence in Kahilipara, Assam, tomorrow morning between 6:00 and 7:00 AM. This will allow family, friends, and fans to pay their last respects.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that Zubeen’s mortal remains will be taken to Guwahati’s Sarusajai Stadium for a public tribute. The Chief Minister personally reviewed the arrangements at the stadium to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for all well-wishers.

Sharing photos of the preparations on his X account, Sarma wrote,
“A short while ago I reviewed the arrangements at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati. It is our highest priority to make sure each and every well wisher of Zubeen can pay their respects in a smooth and hassle-free manner.”

### Final Rites and Public Decision

Regarding the final rites, Chief Minister Sarma stated that the arrangements will be made after Zubeen’s mortal remains arrive in Assam. He emphasized that the singer belonged to the people of Assam, and that they should have the final say in deciding the rites.

“I will also consult people, as I do not have the right to take any decision without their knowledge,” Sarma added.

Responding to requests from Zubeen’s hometown of Jorhat, the Chief Minister clarified, “Cremation and memorial are two different issues, and we will take a final decision only after Zubeen arrives in Assam.”

### Event Cancellations Following Zubeen’s Passing

In the wake of Zubeen Garg’s death, the organizers of the 4th North East India Festival have announced the cancellation of the event as a mark of respect to the late singer.
