OpenAI is preparing to launch a dedicated app for its advanced video generation AI model, Sora 2. The app features a vertical video feed with swipe-to-scroll navigation, reminiscent of TikTok’s popular interface. However, all content on this platform will be entirely AI-generated, providing a unique experience for users.
### App Capabilities
Users will be able to create video clips of up to 10 seconds using OpenAI’s sophisticated video generation technology. Notably, the app does **not** allow uploading photos or videos from the user’s camera roll or other apps, focusing solely on AI-generated content.
One standout feature is the app’s identity verification system, which enables users to confirm their likeness and then use it in videos after successful verification. This adds an extra layer of security and personal control over AI-generated representations.
### User Interaction and Notifications
The app notifies users whenever their likeness is used in a video, even if the clip remains in draft form and hasn’t been posted publicly. This transparency is designed to protect users’ images and rights.
Since an internal launch last week, Sora 2 has received rave reviews from OpenAI employees. In fact, some managers have joked that the app could become a potential productivity distraction due to its engaging interface.
### Market Rivalry: AI Video Space Heats Up
OpenAI’s Sora 2 app will enter a competitive market alongside new AI video products from other tech giants such as Meta and Google. Last week, Meta introduced “Vibes” — a new feed within its Meta AI app dedicated to creating and sharing short AI-generated videos.
