Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday launched the “Chennai One” mobile app, a pioneering initiative that allows commuters to travel across all public transport systems and government-approved autos in Chennai using a single ticket.
Developed by the Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA), the Chennai One app is India’s first integrated public transport ticketing system of its kind, the government stated. The app enables users to plan, book, and track their commute across multiple transport modes including MTC buses, Chennai Metro, suburban rail, autos, and cabs—all with one QR ticket.
In a post on the social media platform X, CUMTA highlighted the convenience of the new system with the tagline: “One City. One Ticket. One App. Now live in Chennai.”
The Chief Minister launched this integrated ticketing system at the Secretariat, marking a significant step towards seamless urban mobility in Chennai. Presently, the app integrates Metro, MTC buses, and Namma Yatri autos and cabs. CUMTA confirmed that MRTS and suburban trains will be incorporated soon, further expanding the network.
This innovation aims to eliminate long queues and confusion by consolidating multiple ticketing systems into a single platform. Chennaiites can now enjoy uninterrupted travel across all transport modes using just one QR ticket.
The Chennai One app is available for download on both iOS and Android devices, offering residents and visitors an efficient and modern travel experience in the city.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who also participated in the launch event, emphasized that the initiative would simplify daily commutes and enhance travel ease.
