**Aligarh: Four Family Members Burnt to Death in Fiery Head-On Collision on National Highway 91**
On Tuesday morning, September 23, a tragic accident claimed the lives of four members of the same family, including two young children, near Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred around 6:00 AM near Nanau Bridge, approximately 25 kilometers from Aligarh city, when their car collided head-on with a mini truck on National Highway 91.
According to reports, both vehicles were traveling at high speed when they collided and became lodged together. The impact ruptured a fuel tank, sparking a fire that quickly engulfed both vehicles. The victims, who were returning from a temple visit, included two children aged 5 and 8, along with a woman and a man. Their bodies were severely burnt, making identification difficult.
Local residents managed to pull out a fifth passenger from the wreckage, who is currently undergoing critical treatment at Aligarh District Hospital. Doctors are considering transferring the patient to Agra for more advanced medical care.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Amrit Jain and fire brigade teams reached the scene shortly after the accident. It took about 30 to 40 minutes to extinguish the fire, by which time both vehicles were completely gutted. Traffic on the busy Agra–Aligarh route was diverted during the rescue operations.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, considering factors such as speeding, driver negligence, or mechanical failure. A forensic team examined the wreckage, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
SP Amrit Jain described the incident as “very tragic” and announced that a road safety campaign would follow to prevent such accidents in the future. Meanwhile, the district administration has announced a government compensation of Rs 2 lakh for each family of the deceased.
In a separate accident on the same day in Unnao district, three people lost their lives when a speeding trailer crushed a stationary truck’s driver and conductor on the Agra–Lucknow Expressway.
