LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia is stepping away from the team due to a “deeply personal family matter,” the organization announced Thursday.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a deeply personal family matter,” read a statement from the Dodgers. “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date.”
Vesia’s wife, who is pregnant, was seen celebrating the Dodgers’ last win in a photo she posted on Instagram.
The Dodgers are set to play the Toronto Blue Jays Friday in Game 1 of the World Series. Vesia had appeared as a relief pitcher in the previous series.
