Officials rage that Trump pal is ‘out of control’ as Vance fights to salvage peace deal

President Donald Trump announced a peace deal to end the war in Gaza earlier this month to tremendous fanfare and praise. However, his administration is now scrambling to prevent the agreement from falling apart, while privately expressing frustration at how Israel’s actions are putting the entire deal in jeopardy.

Recent reports have revealed that the administration fears the deal could collapse altogether. According to Politico, mounting frustrations have arisen as a succession of senior U.S. officials visit Israel this week in an effort to maintain a fragile ceasefire. They are closely monitoring recent developments, including the Israeli Defense Forces’ counter-attack in Gaza on Sunday and the Knesset’s vote in favor of West Bank annexation. Trump has ruled out annexation, viewing it as detrimental to the already fragile agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Vice President JD Vance reportedly delivered a “firm message” to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from the United States this week in response to growing uncertainty surrounding the peace deal.

Despite Netanyahu’s promise of a limited, measured response to the Hamas attack on two IDF soldiers, the counter-attack on Sunday resulted in the deaths of more than 40 civilians. Senior U.S. officials have expressed their frustration over the severity of the attack. One Arab ally was told that Israel was “out of control,” according to one of two people familiar with the conversation.

As efforts continue to preserve the peace agreement, the Trump administration faces significant challenges in managing relations between Israel and Hamas amid ongoing tensions.
