Jonathan Taylor becomes 1st in league history to score 3 TDs in 3 straight games against same team

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis running back Jonathan Taylor made NFL history Sunday by becoming the first player to score three touchdowns in three consecutive games against the same team. The feat came as the Colts defeated the Tennessee Titans 38-14.

Taylor opened the scoring with an 18-yard run in the first quarter, followed by an 80-yard touchdown sprint on Indianapolis’ first play of the second half. He then added a 19-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Daniel Jones early in the fourth quarter, extending the Colts’ lead to 38-7.

A New Jersey native and former Wisconsin Badgers star, Taylor also scored three rushing touchdowns against Tennessee in this season’s first matchup in September, as well as in last season’s second game against the Titans last December.

This season, Taylor has rushed for three touchdowns in a franchise-record three games. Over his career, he has achieved this feat five times. With 63 rushing touchdowns, Taylor is tied with Hall of Famer Lenny Moore for second place in Colts franchise history. The record is held by Hall of Famer Edgerrin James, who has 64 rushing touchdowns.

Taylor finished Sunday’s game with 12 carries for 153 yards, marking his fourth 100-yard game this season and the 28th of his career.
