**One Dead, Another Injured After Falling from Tree While Trimming in Rockland**

ROCKLAND, MASS. (WHDH) — One person was killed and another injured after falling from a tree while trimming it in Rockland on Monday.

Investigators are focusing on a boom lift that was fully extended at the time of the incident. Officials reported that the two individuals fell more than 40 feet to the ground.

“We were called in for reports of two individuals that had fallen to the ground out of a lift,” said David Cowings, Rockland fire captain. “They were cutting trees and somehow fell out of the lift.”

Both individuals were rushed to South Shore Hospital. Unfortunately, one was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance video to determine the circumstances surrounding the fall. Initial reports suggest that the two were not wearing safety harnesses at the time.

When asked if incidents like this are common, Captain Cowings replied, “Pretty rare. But it does happen from time to time. It’s dangerous working up at that height. You have to take the proper safety precautions.”

The incident remains under investigation.
