Former Vice President Kamala Harris fiercely criticized President Donald Trump during a recent podcast interview, HuffPost reported on Thursday.
In an episode of comedian Jon Stewart’s “The Weekly Show” podcast, Harris addressed the Trump administration’s use of food stamps as political leverage. She described these tactics as a “grand gesture” of destruction.
“Are you f—— kidding me?” Harris exclaimed, referring to the brinkmanship displayed over food assistance. “This guy wants to create a ballroom for his rich friends while completely turning a blind eye to the fact that babies are going to starve when the SNAP benefits end in just hours from now,” she added.
HuffPost described Harris’ demeanor throughout the interview as “furious.”
“I’m not going to be distracted by oh, does the guy have a big f—— hammer?” she continued. “What about those babies!”
Meanwhile, Trump and Republican officials have blamed Democrats for the month-long government shutdown, accusing them of wanting to provide health care for illegal aliens. However, federal law already prohibits illegal aliens from receiving federal health care benefits.
If the government does not reopen by November 1, an estimated 40 million Americans could lose their food assistance benefits.
