International Medical Relief Deploys Disaster Area Response Teams to Jamaica Following Hurricane Melissa

**International Medical Relief Deploys First Disaster Area Response Teams to Support Hurricane-Affected Communities in Jamaica**

On November 2, 2025, International Medical Relief (IMR) deployed its first Disaster Area Response Teams (DART) to provide emergency medical care, essential supplies, and critical support to communities in crisis following Hurricane Melissa.

IMR’s DART executives are actively working in the field alongside local authorities, healthcare providers, and Jamaican partners. Their mission is to respond to urgent medical needs, deliver emergency care, and distribute hygiene and trauma supplies to those impacted by the disaster.

The first IMR field teams officially began operations on November 1, focusing their efforts on the hardest-hit regions along Jamaica’s southern and western coasts. This dedicated physician team is committed to saving lives and stabilizing the situation amid ongoing challenges.

“Lives are at risk, and the need is immediate,” said Shauna Vollmer King, Founder and President of International Medical Relief. “We need more hands and hearts — that means volunteers and donors stepping forward now. We are honored to support our partners in Jamaica and to stand alongside organizations like the Ministry of Health and Wellness in Jamaica, The Jamaica Energy Partners Group, Americares, and others who are working tirelessly to bring relief.”
