Panthers rookie WR Tetairoa McMillan expected to play vs. Saints

The Carolina Panthers are set to host the New Orleans Saints in Week 10, with their leading rookie wide receiver, Tetairoa McMillan, expected to be active for Sunday’s matchup at Bank of America Stadium.

After a limited participation in Friday’s practice due to a hamstring issue, McMillan carries a questionable tag but is anticipated to be ready to roll against New Orleans, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

McMillan has quickly become quarterback Bryce Young’s go-to target in the passing game. He leads Carolina’s receiving corps with 41 catches for 558 yards and two touchdowns through nine games. Notably, 17 of his receptions this season have gone for 16 or more yards.

Adding to his value, McMillan has caught three passes on fourth down this year, placing him among only seven players league-wide with three or more successful fourth-down conversions.

The Panthers enter Week 10 riding momentum, improving to 5-4 after a hard-fought 16-13 victory over the Green Bay Packers. Bryce Young has thrown for 1,390 yards with 11 touchdowns and six interceptions, while running back Rico Dowdle has contributed 735 yards and four touchdowns at an impressive 5.6 yards per carry, providing Carolina with a balanced offensive attack.

McMillan could very well be the X-factor in Carolina’s aerial assault as they face a Saints team struggling at 1-8 following a 34-10 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

On the defensive side, the Panthers have maintained consistency. Christian Rozeboom leads the team with 77 tackles, Jaycee Horn has recorded three interceptions, and Derrick Brown adds three sacks. Impressively, Carolina has held three of their last five opponents to under 20 points.

In the all-time series between these two rivals, the Panthers trail the Saints 29-32. However, home contests have been evenly matched at 15-15, including an overtime win for Carolina.

Kickoff for Sunday’s game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Bank of America Stadium.
