Diary of disturbing disinformation and dangerous delusions This response: “When you don’t want something like that released, when even a whole lot of Republicans are calling for the release, his own party members, people ask the question: What’s he hiding?” Sen. Chuck Schumer, Monday, attacking President Trump We say: What the heck? The question posed to Schumer was why President Joe Biden never released the Epstein files and, implicitly, why Democrats never pushed him to. Chuck changed the subject because he and his party now pretend it’s all some GOP coverup of material that would embarrass Trump who plainly has nothing to hide, since he just signed a bill to release the files. This claim: “This is a city of international law, and. that means upholding the warrants from the International Criminal Court .[I won’t] create my own laws.” Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, Sunday We say: Mamdani was justifying his vow to arrest Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu if he steps foot in NYC. But the city follows American law, not international law, let alone fake international law like that ICC warrant: The United States explicitly chose not to recognize ICC jurisdiction. Nor does Mamdani have any authority to enforce international law: Creating his own laws is precisely what he’d be doing by arresting Bibi. This gripe: “The highest income people . just got a 2. 6% tax cut from Donald Trump.” state Sen. John Liu, Nov. 14 We say: Liu (D-Queens) is referring to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which kept the highest personal-income tax rate at 37%, instead of letting it rise to 39. 6%. But stopping a tax hike is not a “tax cut,” and it’s certainly not justification for slapping city residents with yet another local tax hike, as Liu wants. This condition: “If you want Democratic votes for a budget, it .[mustn’t] destroy our democracy.” Sen. Chris Murphy, Sunday We say Huh? The “budget” Murphy (D-Conn.) was referring to was the “continuing resolution” bill to simply maintain the status quo and keep the government running; Democrats opposed it, shutting federal operations. Was “our democracy” being destroyed before the vote? Nor is it being wrecked now, even though Democrats ended their shutdown charade and let the government reopen.
