The Lumen Christi will play in a state championship game for the 18th time, and will play for a 15th title, after its 25-19 triple overtime win over Almont on Saturday in the state semifinal. The Titans are tied with Farmington Hills Harrison for the most title-game trips. The teams traded scores in the second quarter, with Benny Gaston taking it in from a yard out for the Titans. In the third quarter the Raiders took the lead on a Jacob Stewart touchdown, but Lumen Christi answered in the fourth with a one-yard Sean Walicki touchdown run. Gaston found Johnny Walters for a 10-yard touchdown pass in overtime, only for Almont to answer with a Stewart one-yard run. In the third overtime, Lumen Christi’s defense came up with the stop, and the offense came up with the points as Gaston ran it in from the one. Paul Sattler led Lumen Christi with 23 carries for 97 yards. Walicki had 15 carries for 73 yards. Gaston was 9-for-11 passing for 91 yards. Matthew Corneau led the Raiders with 101 rushing yards.
