Missouri Delta, Sahai family collaborate on new medical facility

The healthcare options available for people in Sikeston and the Southeast Missouri region will improve significantly next month with the opening of the new Sahai Medical Building, which is part of the Missouri Delta Medical Center.

“I am super proud,” Missouri Delta Medical Center CEO Jason Schrumpf said. “This gives us the capacity to grow, as well.”

The 10,000-square-foot facility has undergone a complete renovation and will offer enhanced access to specialized urology and surgical care. It will serve as the permanent home for Dr. Animesh Sahai, a Missouri Delta urologist, who teamed with his wife, Dr. Madhu Sahai, and the Missouri Delta Foundation to create the facility.

“We want to thank the Sahais,” Schrumpf continued, “for their generosity and kindness. They have made this dream a reality.”

Also relocating into the facility at 125 Plaza Drive in Sikeston will be Dr. Muhammad Aman, a general/vascular surgeon, and Dr. Razvan Iorga, a general surgeon.

Located in the same building, but with a shared reception area, will be the Missouri Delta Urology Clinic. It will house eight exam rooms, two private consultation rooms, four procedure rooms, and an in-house laboratory. The facility, which was first built in 1993, will provide “specimen pass-throughs,” enhancing patient privacy.

The renovation work included a complete infrastructure overhaul. A new roof was installed, along with modern HVAC systems. Security has been enhanced, and an upgraded fire detection technology system has been put in place.

On the exterior of the facility, patients will benefit from a refurbished drop-off canopy and improved lighting, which will improve safety and accessibility.

The Missouri Delta General Surgery Clinic will include a dedicated suite featuring six modern exam rooms, two advanced procedure rooms, and five private rooms for patient consultations.

The facility will also provide a 20-person conference room, supporting collaboration, training, and continued medical education for the medical staff.

“We are pleased to be a part of this,” Dr. Madhu Sahai said at a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility. “This community and hospital have given us a lot, and they have embraced us.

“Our children have had a good home to come to. The hospital, the community, the staff, and the physicians have always been so nice to all of us. It has been a real privilege to be a part of all of this.”
