Funding Radar: Commission launches €148 million call for train technologies

Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking (EU-Rail) has announced up to €148.2 million in EU funding to advance the next generation of rail technologies and operational solutions. This investment is expected to support projects worth a total of around €245 million.

Apostolos Tzitzikostas, the European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, emphasized that the initiative aims to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness by accelerating the deployment of interoperable solutions across the Single Market.

“Open to all innovators, including SMEs, universities, and start-ups, the call encourages strong partnerships and practical solutions that deliver impact quickly and at scale,” he said.

This funding opportunity represents a significant step towards fostering innovation and collaboration within Europe’s rail sector, promoting sustainability and efficiency in transportation across the continent.
