**“Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc” Tops Domestic Box Office with $17.25 Million Opening Weekend**
The Japanese anime film *Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc*, from Crunchyroll and Sony, claimed the number one spot at the domestic box office this past weekend, grossing an estimated $17.25 million, according to Comscore.
Based on Tatsuki Fujimoto’s popular manga series, the R-rated movie follows teen demon hunter Denji. Betrayed by the yakuza and killed while trying to pay off his inherited family debts, Denji’s chainsaw-powered dog, Pochita, makes a life-sacrificing deal. Fusing with Denji, Pochita revives him and grants the ability to transform parts of his body into chainsaws.
*Chainsaw Man,* already a global sensation, delivered a significant blow to Disney and 20th Century’s biopic *Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere,* starring Jeremy Allen White. The biopic took a disappointing fourth place with an estimated $9.1 million.
Based on Warren Zanes’ 2023 book of the same name, *Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere* explores Bruce Springsteen’s life and career during the making of his 1982 acoustic album *Nebraska.* The *New York Times* described the film as a “thoughtful exploration of the creative process” that ultimately “runs out of steam,” drifting into a “depressive period” of Springsteen’s life and never quite regaining its momentum.
In its second weekend, the horror sequel *Black Phone 2* secured the No. 2 position with an estimated $13 million in earnings. The Universal and Blumhouse production now boasts a domestic total of $49.1 million.
Rounding out the top three at the box office is Paramount’s romantic drama *Regretting You,* the latest film adaptation of novelist Colleen Hoover’s work (*It Ends With Us*). Starring Allison Williams and Dave Franco, the film opened with an estimated $12.5 million domestically.
