Vanessa Redgrave Set for Lifetime Achievement Award in Turin Before Premiere of New Film ‘The Estate’

Vanessa Redgrave to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at Torino Film Festival

Vanessa Redgrave will be honored with a lifetime achievement award at Italy’s prestigious Torino Film Festival. The Oscar-winning British actress is set to present the world premiere of her latest film, *The Estate*, during the event.

*The Estate* is a suspense drama both directed and written by her son, Carlo Nero. The film stars Redgrave alongside her husband, Franco Nero, famously known for his role in *Django*. The story centers on the Wellsleys, an aristocratic family struggling to save their ancestral property amidst overwhelming debts.

A Legacy of Excellence

Hailing from an illustrious family of actors, Vanessa Redgrave’s career has been marked by remarkable performances and critical acclaim. She earned her first leading role in *Morgan: A Suitable Case for Treatment* (1966), directed by Karel Reisz. This role won her the Best Actress award at Cannes and garnered BAFTA and Oscar nominations.

The following year, she returned to Cannes as Jane in Michelangelo Antonioni’s *Blow Up*, playing a mysterious woman in a park. Her string of accolades continued with further Oscar nominations for her portrayal of Isadora Duncan in *Isadora* (1969), also directed by Reisz — a role which again earned her the Best Actress award at Cannes. In 1972, she was nominated for her performance in Charles Jarrott’s *Mary, Queen of Scots*, which won her a special David at Italy’s David di Donatello Awards.

In 1978, Redgrave won the Oscar for her powerful role in Fred Zinnemann’s *Julia*. Additional nominations followed for James Ivory’s *The Bostonians* (1985) and *Howards End* (1993). In 1994, she received the Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival for her performance in *Little Odessa* by James Gray.

A True Legend

Torino Film Festival’s artistic director Giulio Base praised Redgrave, stating, “When you are nominated for an Oscar six times, you’re no longer just one of the world’s greatest actresses: you become a legend.” He also highlighted that “Vanessa Redgrave is an icon of theater and cinema, but also a committed activist.”
