Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has been delayed once again, pushing its already postponed 2026 launch date back to November 2026. Despite the setback, publisher Take-Two Interactive is maintaining a relaxed attitude about the new timeline.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke with IGN, expressing confidence in the revised release window. “I’m highly confident on the new date,” he said, echoing comments he made nearly a year ago regarding Rockstar Games’ initial goal of launching the title in 2025.
However, not all the news around Rockstar has been positive. Just last week, the developer faced accusations of “ruthless” union-busting. In response, a Take-Two spokesperson told GamesRadar+, “Rockstar Games terminated a small number of individuals for gross misconduct, and for no other reason. As always, we fully support Rockstar’s ambitions and approach.”
The announcement of GTA 6’s delay hit Take-Two’s share prices hard, with a nearly 10% drop immediately following the news. At the time of writing, prices have started to recover slightly as Take-Two conducts its investor call.
Zelnick reassured fans and investors alike, stating, “We’ve had more time to develop the title. And so we are getting closer to the release. We are grateful that it is still within the same fiscal year. And mostly we’re grateful to Rockstar for constantly seeking perfection.”
Meanwhile, the r/GTA6 subreddit community appears less composed about the delay, humorously lamenting that many will “age into Medicare when GTA 6 comes out.” The official discussion thread is filled with anxious commentary, including warnings like, “This game better have 0 bugs, nothing.”
Addressing concerns about the extended development period, Zelnick commented, “There have been limited circumstances where more time was required to polish a title and make sure that it was spectacular. When our competitors go to market before something was ready, bad things happen.”
While fans might be frustrated by the wait, Take-Two and Rockstar seem committed to delivering a polished and exceptional experience when GTA 6 finally arrives in November 2026.
