**Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): State-Level Police Welfare Initiatives Gain Momentum**
In a significant move to support the families of police personnel, the state-level advisory committee and police welfare committee, during their meeting on Friday, approved an increase in aid for families of deceased police officers from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana stated that this enhanced support will be funded through an additional annual contribution of Rs 1,200 from all ranks within the force.
The meeting also focused on several key areas aimed at improving the welfare and efficiency of the police force. These included the expansion of health services, filling pending vacancies, and making public hearings more effective. Compassionate appointments have been expedited to ensure timely support, and prompt action is being taken on grievances received during public hearings.
In recognition of exemplary performance, sixty-four police personnel received out-of-turn promotions for their outstanding work during anti-Naxal operations. Additionally, six children of police personnel secured selections in the UPSC Civil Services Examination, reflecting the continued emphasis on education within the police community. Correspondingly, education fund assistance has also been increased by 50 percent.
The committee highlighted that transferring personnel who have been posted at the same station for extended periods has enhanced both transparency and public trust in the police force. Meanwhile, proposals from the Police Recruitment Board are currently under government consideration for further action.
These steps mark a comprehensive effort to bolster the welfare, efficiency, and public engagement of Madhya Pradesh’s police force.
