Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, has been handed a one-match touchline ban along with an £8,000 fine by the Football Association (FA). The sanction comes after his exuberant celebrations during Chelsea’s thrilling 2-1 win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Matchday 7 of the Premier League 2025-26 season.

### What Happened?

Maresca’s wild celebrations following Chelsea’s last-minute winner did not sit well with referee Anthony Taylor, who issued him a second yellow card, resulting in Maresca being sent off to the stands. The FA stated that Maresca’s behavior during the match was inappropriate and involved abusive or insulting words and/or actions.

The manager has admitted the charge and accepted the standard penalty, meaning he will miss Chelsea’s next Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

### Details of the Ban

Despite the ban, FA regulations allow suspended managers to communicate with their coaching staff and enter the dressing room before kick-off, at half-time, and after the final whistle.

This is Maresca’s second touchline ban during his time at Chelsea. He previously served a suspension in April 2025 after receiving a third yellow card of the season for his celebrations following Pedro Neto’s late winner against Fulham.

### Maresca’s Reaction

After the high-stakes match against Liverpool, Maresca took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the victory and his suspension. He said, “Winning at the last moment was a beautiful joy for all of us. It was a shame not to be present at the final whistle to celebrate with our wonderful fans. Now, recovery energy and focus on what we can do better.”

### Chelsea’s Current Standing

Following seven matches in the Premier League, Chelsea currently sit 7th in the table. They have recorded three wins, two draws, and two losses. The Blues have scored 13 goals and conceded 9 so far this season.

With Maresca sidelined for the upcoming match, Chelsea will look to maintain momentum as they continue their push up the Premier League standings.
