**Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Public Representatives Express Anger Over Poor Road Conditions**
Public representatives, including the Indore Mayor and the MP from Barwani, voiced their frustration over the deteriorating condition of roads during a meeting held by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Anupam Rajan on Monday.
They complained that officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the MP Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) were not giving adequate attention to improving the roads. Responding to the concerns, ACS Rajan instructed officials to prioritize repairs of rain-damaged roads.
The division-level review meeting took place at the Residency, following directives from Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav to enhance coordination between officials and public representatives. ACS Anupam Rajan, a senior IAS officer, is responsible for the Indore division. The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Sudam Khade, all collectors of the division, CEOs of District Panchayats, and other concerned officials.
The main focus of the discussion was on issues related to roads, bridges, over-bridges, and culverts.
Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav pointed out that both NHAI and MPRDC officials were neglecting the road problems. She expressed concern that despite these agencies being responsible, the public often directed their grievances toward the Indore Municipal Corporation. She also cited specific examples of problematic roads.
Similarly, MP from Khargone-Barwani, Gajendra Singh Patel, raised concerns about bad roads in his parliamentary area, specifically criticizing the MPRDC and NHAI officials.
ACS Rajan emphasized that construction and repair work of roads, bridges, and over-bridges within the Indore division must be completed within the stipulated timeframe and with high quality. He stressed the importance of adhering to deadlines and making the repair of rain-damaged roads a top priority. Furthermore, he instructed officials to ensure that traffic jams do not occur under any circumstances and called for special attention to preparations related to Simhastha.
