Pacers’ Aaron Nesmith lands $40.4 million contract extension before 2025-26 season

Coming off an incredibly heroic 2025 playoff run, Aaron Nesmith has cashed in. On Monday night, on the eve of the start of the 2025-26 season, the Indiana Pacers reportedly agreed to a two-year, $40.4 million contract extension with their starting small forward, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

Nesmith still had two years left on his current deal, earning $11 million per year. However, the Pacers have clearly identified him as a crucial member of the team’s core and have rewarded him accordingly.

Over the past seasons, Nesmith has made significant strides in his game, emerging as one of the best 3-and-D wings in the entire NBA. During the Pacers’ run to the NBA Finals last season, he played in 23 games, averaging 12.7 points per game on an impressive 49 percent shooting from beyond the arc, with over five attempts per game.

At only 26 years old and in the prime of his career, Nesmith’s new contract extension reflects his value to the Pacers moving forward. His continued development and impact on both ends of the floor make this deal a smart investment for the franchise.
