Vikings’ Aaron Jones active for Thursday Night Football vs Chargers

On Thursday evening, the Minnesota Vikings will hit the road to face the Los Angeles Chargers in a prime-time game, broadcast nationally for fans across the country.

The Vikings are coming off a frustrating home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, a game in which they spent most of the time playing catch-up and ultimately fell short of completing what could have been an impressive comeback.

One key question mark for Minnesota heading into this matchup was the status of running back Aaron Jones. Jones has been sidelined since Week 2 due to a hamstring injury sustained during a home loss to the Atlanta Falcons. However, on Thursday afternoon, the Vikings received a positive update.

NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on X (formerly Twitter) that the Vikings officially activated Aaron Jones off injured reserve, and he is expected to take the field against the Chargers tonight. Jones had to exit early in the Falcons game due to his injury but is now ready to return against a Chargers team that has suddenly hit a rough patch after a strong start to the season.

The Chargers, who last played on Sunday at home against the red-hot Indianapolis Colts, suffered a heavy defeat that left them looking far from the formidable unit many expected this year.

Meanwhile, the Vikings’ honeymoon phase with quarterback Carson Wentz appears to be over. Wentz and the Minnesota offense will be aiming to bounce back after a lackluster performance against the Eagles on Sunday. Adding to the challenges, rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy remains sidelined due to injury.

The Vikings and Chargers are set to kick off at 8:15 PM ET on Thursday evening from Los Angeles. After this game, Minnesota will return home to face the Detroit Lions the following Sunday.

Stay tuned for what promises to be an exciting matchup between two teams looking to regain their early-season momentum.
