No need to come: China snubs Germany’s top diplomat

**German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul Cancels Upcoming Visit to Beijing Amid Lack of Scheduled Meetings**

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has been forced to cancel an upcoming trip to China after Beijing reportedly declined to arrange high-level meetings with him, multiple media outlets reported on Friday.

Wadephul was scheduled to depart for Beijing on Sunday to discuss critical issues such as China’s export restrictions on rare-earth metals and semiconductors, as well as the ongoing Ukraine conflict. However, the trip has now been postponed.

A spokesperson for Germany’s Federal Foreign Office told Politico, “The trip cannot take place at this time and will be postponed to a later date.” While Wadephul was slated to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, reports indicate that there were too few other meetings arranged to justify the visit.

According to Bild, the two diplomats plan to hold a telephone conversation soon in place of the canceled trip.

**Comment:**
It appears that China has grown weary of German diplomats visiting only to lecture on what China should do. This development reflects growing tensions in diplomatic exchanges between the two countries.
