Tyrod Taylor out with knee injury, Justin Fields will start for Jets

Jets coach Aaron Glenn refused to reveal who would start at quarterback on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Now, the answer is clear: Justin Fields.

Tyrod Taylor has been ruled out with a knee injury and will not make the trip to Cincinnati, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post. Rookie Brady Cook will serve as the backup to Fields.

Fields has struggled this season, and it seemed likely that Taylor would have started if he were healthy. However, with Taylor sidelined, Fields will get another opportunity to prove he deserves to hold onto the starting job.

Taylor underwent offseason knee surgery and suffered a setback to the same knee after stepping in for Fields during last week’s game. Adding to the quarterback controversy, Jets owner Woody Johnson recently expressed disappointment with Fields’ performance, stating that he has not met the expectations set when the team signed him this offseason.

The winless Jets enter Sunday’s game as six-point underdogs against Joe Flacco and the Bengals.
