It’s officially shooter season, baby, but there’s only so many hours in the day to play

Whether you prefer your shooter games in first-person or third-person, it’s a great time to be a gamer. But that often leads to a daunting question: what should I play with my free time? The time crunch feels more intense than ever, and it’s only going to get worse in the coming weeks.

Tomorrow, **Battlefield: RedSec** launches as a new battle royale title. Just two days later, on October 30, **ARC Raiders** joins the fray as an extraction shooter. Then, a little over two weeks after that, **Call of Duty: Black Ops 7** brings multiplayer and Zombies modes on November 14. How does anyone find the time to play all of these games?

As a fan of everything—and especially as someone working in games media—I feel the pressure to try them all. But there simply isn’t enough time, especially considering each game is a significant time sink in its own way.

What’s exciting, though, is that these three massive titles are all different in their own unique ways and cater to specific moods or player types. That’s why, to me, it feels like we’re entering yet another golden age for shooter games.

### Looking for Last Player Standing? RedSec Has You Covered

Wanna drop in and be the last player standing? Then **Battlefield: RedSec** is for you. This free-to-play battle royale uses Battlefield 6’s iconic weapons and roles. It features a ring circle that kills you upon contact, upping the stakes in the genre.

Built on months of player feedback and playtesting, RedSec aims to offer what could be the next big thing in gaming.

### High Risk and High Reward? Check Out ARC Raiders

If battle royale isn’t your thing but you still crave the thrill of high risk and high reward, then **ARC Raiders** might be your style. This third-person extraction shooter offers a stellar PvPvE experience.

You can team up with friends or go solo, using proximity chat to locate enemies or allies while looting. But if you die, you lose everything, so every move counts.

### Classic Multiplayer Fan? Black Ops 7 is Your Playground

Personally, I’m more of a classic multiplayer player. I like to relax, turn off my brain, and just shoot stuff. **Call of Duty: Black Ops 7** is perfect for that, especially with CoD’s newly toned-down skill-based matchmaking.

For me, a relaxing shooter experience means turning on some music, grinding camo challenges, or even battling hordes of zombies with a Ray Gun. Black Ops 7 offers all of that and more.

Regardless of which game you lean toward, all three are competing for your time (and money). I’m very interested to see which titles dominate the charts for playtime and revenue as we head into the late fall and upcoming winter of 2025.

I still don’t know which game I’ll end up playing the most in the coming weeks. My situation is unique since I’ll go where the work is needed. Most likely, I’ll bounce back and forth every day, trying them all to discover where my heart lies.

But for you, the consumer— which title piques your interest the most? Let us know in the comments below, and get ready for the season of the shooter!
