While the most recent season updates for Apex Legends have brought some exciting additions, there are moments when change is necessary. For Season 27, titled **Amped**, Respawn Entertainment is taking a sledgehammer to the old Olympus map, revamping it to create an exciting new meta. And that’s not all players can look forward to.
### A Fresh Take on Olympus
The Olympus map originally debuted back in Season 7, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was designed with the thrill of a sky-high battleground in mind. Now, five years later, Respawn is ready to inject fresh excitement into its design.
For those not up to speed with **Apex Legends lore**, chaos struck Olympus after it collided with the Stasis Net on Broken Moon and disappeared in Season 20. Eventually, the city was rediscovered, buried beneath the snowy tundra of Pagos, and restored to a workable state.
### New Points of Interest
Players can expect **four new points of interest (POIs)** spread across the map:
– **Somers University:** Built by Horizon as a replacement for the old Orbital Cannon. While the Orbital Cannon proved less fun in early and late-game scenarios, Somers University offers a more approachable exterior, additional cover, and a triangular layout.
– **Gravity Engine:** Taking the place of the old Energy Depot, this area is the source of what keeps Olympus afloat. It features numerous lifts and zip rails, enhancing verticality across the map.
– **The Stabilizer:** Replacing the former Docks, The Stabilizer keeps Olympus aligned. Its platform design can lead to some intense and harrowing encounters.
– **Dockyhard:** Located near Hydroponics, Dockyhard integrates ideas from the old Olympus map while adding new vertical elements to spice up team fights.
### Legend Reworks
With the spotlight on Olympus, it’s only fitting that Horizon receives some exciting buffs this season. Although Respawn considered nerfs, the team decided to prioritize fun instead by giving her **new movement tools**.
As players earn upgrades throughout each session, Horizon will gain advantages in vertical battles. This includes a shorter cooldown on her **Gravity Lift Tactical** and extra health for her **Black Hole Ultimate**.
Valkyrie, another aerial combat expert, received adjustments as well. Once the undisputed master of the skies, Respawn acknowledges that her competition has caught up. Changes include:
– Increased speed boosts on her **VTOL Jets**
– Shorter takeoff time on her **Skyward Dive Ultimate**
– An amplified **Missile Swarm Tactical** that now scans enemies on contact and no longer causes self-damage
Additionally, new upgrades can alter Valkyrie’s missile patterns, fuel consumption, and further reduce Skyward Dive’s takeoff time.
Rampart’s defenses also got a significant boost. Her **Amped Cover Tactical** now provides walls with greater health, speed boosts, and even a roof as players level up during a session. New upgrades will allow Rampart’s walls to regenerate health and provide infinite ammo when behind Amped Cover.
While these changes suggest Rampart will lean into a defensive role, Respawn believes these buffs will encourage her to stay mobile, sharing the benefits with her squad.
### Weapon and Movement Updates
Significant updates are coming to Apex Legends’ weaponry. The standout change involves the **Alternator**, which is gaining the **Double Tap Hop Up**. This attachment allows players to fire both barrels simultaneously, delivering increased damage—enough to secure close-range kills instantly.
In terms of movement, an improved **Mantle Boost** will amplify momentum, enabling faster traversal across the map. The addition of a new visual indicator will make it easier for players to execute this move successfully.
### Olympus Expands to Wildcard Mode
Olympus isn’t just returning to the core Apex Legends Battle Royale mode. The new **Wildcard mode**, introduced last season, will feature Olympus for the first time. This version of Olympus includes extra ziplines, gravity cannons, and other additions designed to keep the action fast-paced.
Olympus will be part of the Wildcard mode during the **Supersonic Event**, which runs from November 18 to December 16.
