Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that Diogo Dalot struggles to deliver crosses from the left flank because he is right-footed. According to Amorim, this limitation is a key reason why the Portuguese defender tends to drift inside and ends up with limited space.
Speaking to the media after the 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest, Amorim explained that starting Dalot as a left wing-back presents a challenge. “I want to see more crosses, but the defender is unable to do it as he will need to use his weaker foot,” he said.
Reflecting on the game, Amorim added that his side were largely in control but lost their focus for a brief period, which allowed Forest to take the lead. “I felt that the level of energy was not the same compared to the last game. Sometimes, when you play away, you can feel that. My players gave everything, and you could see it in the game but, in the small details, the energy was not the same. We have to work on that. Like I was saying, we were in control of the game. In the Premier League, if you disconnect for five minutes, you can change the result.”
Manchester United initially took the lead through Casemiro, but Nottingham Forest scored twice in the first five minutes of the second half to turn the game around. Amad Diallo scored the equalizer with nine minutes remaining, securing a point for the Red Devils.
### Ruben Amorim Heaps Praise on Manchester United Star Amad Diallo
After the match, Amorim praised young Amad Diallo for his crucial goal. He highlighted the youngster’s potential and encouraged him to be more consistent. “The equalizer in the 81st minute lifted the team. I want to see him more consistent in every detail—when he receives the ball, in build-up, and when he is in the final third. You could see in the first half he had some opportunities. In a lot of games, he has that opportunity coming inside and the shot is not there yet. We are working on that, so he has potential to do better,” Amorim said.
### Current Standings and Upcoming Fixture
Manchester United currently sit seventh in the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Arsenal. The Red Devils face Tottenham Hotspur next on Saturday, November 8, in what promises to be an important league clash.
