Cole Kmet Ruled Out For the Rest of Week 9

The Chicago Bears will be without tight end Cole Kmet for the remainder of their Week 9 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Kmet went down after making a first-down catch during the first half and was evaluated for a concussion.

Early in the third quarter, the Bears announced that Kmet would not return to the game. The official announcement from Bears Communications read:

This is a tough break for Cole Kmet, who had just returned after missing his first game last week. He sat out the Week 8 loss to the Baltimore Ravens due to a back injury, so seeing him back on the field was encouraging for both the team and fans.

However, to see him go down with an injury and be ruled out so early in the third quarter is disappointing. We’ll continue to monitor his progress throughout the coming week and provide updates as they become available.

In the meantime, the Bears will look to tighten their offense by turning more snaps over to Colston Loveland and Durham Smythe in the tight end role.
