Garrett Crochet, Roman Anthony named finalist for Cy Young, Rookie of the Year Awards

After a standout first season with the Red Sox, Boston ace Garrett Crochet is in the running for the American League’s top pitching accolade. Crochet was named one of three finalists for the AL Cy Young Award on Monday night, joining Detroit’s Tarik Skubal and Houston’s Hunter Brown. The winner will be announced next Wednesday on MLB Network.

Crochet dominated in his inaugural season with the Red Sox, posting an impressive 18-5 record alongside a 2.59 ERA. He led the AL in both innings pitched (205.1) and strikeouts (255), while also delivering a stellar performance in his lone postseason appearance this fall.

In Boston’s only playoff victory over the Yankees in the Wild Card Round, Crochet limited New York to just one earned run and four hits over 7.2 innings. He surrendered zero walks while striking out 11, showcasing his dominance on the mound.

Crochet faces a tough challenge in unseating the reigning Cy Young Award winner, Tarik Skubal, who led the AL in both ERA (2.21) and WHIP (0.89).

In other award news, Red Sox rookie Roman Anthony was named a finalist for the AL Rookie of the Year Award alongside Oakland Athletics sluggers Nick Kurtz and Jacob Wilson. Kurtz is considered the projected frontrunner, but Anthony’s impressive start earned him a finalist nod despite playing in only 71 games with Boston this summer.

Over that stretch, Anthony slashed .292/.396/.463 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs, highlighting his promising potential for the Red Sox moving forward.
