The 4-4 Minnesota Vikings will host the 3-5 Baltimore Ravens this Sunday as 4.5-point home underdogs. Both teams need wins to stay competitive in their divisional races, but there’s little doubt the Ravens hold an edge at the quarterback position in this matchup. This likely means the Vikings’ running game will need to step up for them to secure a win as underdogs.
That brings us to veteran running back Aaron Jones, who is currently questionable for the game due to an AC joint sprain in his shoulder and a toe injury. Jones did not practice on Wednesday; however, he participated in two limited practices on Thursday and Friday, officially listing him as questionable. Despite these concerns, Jones expressed some optimism about playing.
On Saturday, it was reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that Jones is expected to suit up for this week’s game—good news for Vikings fans. Still, there’s understandable concern about whether he can handle a full workload, given his injury history this season and the physical demands of playing with a shoulder and toe injury.
Last week, Jones demonstrated that he still has the ability to perform when he rushed nine times for 78 yards and caught both of his targets for an additional 20 yards before leaving the game in the third quarter. The Ravens have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to running backs this season, so if Jones can stay on the field, he should be a valuable start.
However, the injury risk is real and could be a deciding factor if you are choosing between Jones and a similarly projected running back in your fantasy lineup. Keep a close eye on his status as kickoff approaches.
