The 10 teams in the previous Varsity Maine football poll justified their rankings last week by either winning their postseason games or acquitting themselves well in losses to other ranked teams. As a result, the latest rankings remain almost identical.
The only changes this week are Westbrook moving up from a tie for seventh place to fifth, and Noble dropping from fifth to eighth after falling to No. 2 Bonny Eagle in a Class A South semifinal.
This weekend features the third Varsity Maine No. 1-vs.-No. 2 matchup of the season, as Thornton Academy and Bonny Eagle face off on Saturday for the A South title. These two teams previously met in the most recent 1-vs.-2 battle, where the Golden Trojans defeated the Scots 42-21 on October 24.
Thornton Academy has been involved in all three top-two showdowns this season. As the second-ranked team, Thornton beat then-No. 1 Portland 36-0 on October 3. An interesting, though ultimately meaningless, note: these 1-vs.-2 matchups have occurred every three weeks.
The Varsity Maine football poll is based on games played before November 11, 2025. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes indicated in parentheses, followed by total points.
