**Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Wanted Man in Violent Assault Case Near Ormond Beach**

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood has announced the arrest of Scott Knowlton, a wanted man involved in a violent assault caught on camera. Knowlton was taken into custody Saturday at a residence in the 1100 block of Avenue G, near Ormond Beach.

Since Thursday, the sheriff’s office has shared footage from its investigation, including surveillance video showing Knowlton beating his girlfriend. According to Sheriff Chitwood, during the incident, VSO Chief Deputy Brian Henderson witnessed the assault and intervened. However, Knowlton fled the scene, leaving behind his bag, a revolver, and significant quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl suspected to be for trafficking.

Knowlton was already wanted on several outstanding warrants related to drug trafficking. New charges following his arrest include kidnapping, battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and additional offenses. The sheriff’s office had previously offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to Knowlton’s capture.

Following hours of surveillance on Avenue G, deputies observed Knowlton exiting the home wearing a hoodie and sunglasses. Upon realizing he had been spotted, he attempted to escape by running back inside and jumping out a rear window. However, law enforcement had the house surrounded. Knowing escape was unlikely, Knowlton eventually surrendered in the backyard.

Sheriff Chitwood credited an anonymous tipster with helping lead deputies to the location. “A tipster who will remain anonymous is $1,000 richer thanks to the info that helped make this arrest possible,” he wrote on social media.

This arrest brings hope for justice in a troubling case captured on video and underscores the importance of community cooperation in apprehending violent offenders.
