FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Zaon Collins scored 27 points to lead Fresno State, and DeShawn Gory sealed the victory with a 3-pointer with 24 seconds remaining as the Bulldogs defeated Utah Valley 75-74 on Saturday night.
Collins was efficient from the field, shooting 10 of 12, including 2 for 3 from beyond the arc. He also went 5 for 6 from the free-throw line to help the Bulldogs improve to 3-2 on the season.
Jake Heidbreder contributed 18 points and three steals, while Jac Mani added 14 points, shooting 4 of 8 from the field and 6 for 7 from the free-throw line.
For the Wolverines (2-2), Hayden Welling led the way with 17 points and three steals. Jackson Holcombe chipped in 12 points and three steals, and Tyler Hendricks scored 10.
Collins scored nine points in the first half, but Fresno State trailed Utah Valley 40-33 at halftime. He ignited the Bulldogs’ rally in the second half by adding 18 more points, fueling the comeback win.
