With mounting fears of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Rowan County as part of the federal agency’s Operation Charlotte’s Web, multiple individuals expressed concern about the safety of students and families in local public schools across various forums including social media. As of this writing, no confirmed reports of ICE agents in Rowan County had been made. After a request for information, the Rowan-Salisbury School System offered a few comments on the matter. “We continue to work with our attorneys as they have issued guidelines for our leaders to follow for varied interactions that may occur,” said an email from the school system. “These guidelines were previously shared and were shared again this week as a reminder to follow if needed.” According to school officials, to date, they have not had any interactions that have warranted the use of those guidelines.
