The California Highway Patrol’s Newhall-area Office has started its annual toy drive, according to officials. In addition to starting the collection now, officers are planning the annual “stuff-a-bus” event for Dec. 6-7 at the Walmart off Kelly Johnson Parkway. “Come join the CHP and donate a new unopened toy to the less fortunate,” read a statement to promote the drive. “The Newhall-area Office will be hosting an event to stuff a bus in Santa Clarita,” said Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesman for the Newhall-area Office. “The goal is to stuff a bus full of toys in order to meet our mission of getting a toy into the hands of every kid in need this holiday season.” He said this year marks the law enforcement agency’s 37th of doing the drive. The agency has several collection baskets set up throughout the community with businesses that agreed to help out, Burgos-Lopez added. Residents might notice a basket outside of their local Walgreens pharmacy, he said, and there will also be officers in front of the Walmart on Kelly Johnson Parkway from Wednesday through Sunday prior to the stuff-a-bus event.
