The New England Patriots are among several teams monitoring Maxx Crosby’s situation in Las Vegas, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. A deal for the 28-year-old pass-rusher could potentially happen this week.
“I’d lean toward a Maxx Crosby trade happening, and maybe this week,” Breer wrote in a recent column. “But there’s going to have to be some needle-threading. I don’t think the Raiders want to go through the song-and-dance of shopping him, nor do I believe Crosby wants it advertised that he’s looking for suitors, given his bond with owner Mark Davis, and his view of himself as a Raider.”
Breer described the “cleanest” outcome for all parties as a market emerging organically. This could occur as teams gain a clearer understanding of their spending and roster situations. Besides New England, Breer mentioned several teams keeping an eye on Crosby, including Dallas, Chicago, Baltimore, Buffalo, Philadelphia, and the Los Angeles Rams.
During an appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero added that the Raiders have been receiving interest from multiple teams.
“I would say it is fair to assume that the Raiders are getting many calls about Maxx Crosby,” Pelissero said. “We heard what [Raiders GM] John Spytek said in this room, he expects Maxx to be back, great relationship, texting and talking. We have not heard from Maxx Crosby since that session. Maxx has many ways, on social media, on a podcast to potentially respond, but I would say the Raiders don’t need to make calls. They will get calls on Maxx Crosby.”
The Raiders are coming off a difficult 3-14 season and hold the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft. Crosby, now 29, has publicly stated his desire to win.
“Is there a world where Maxx Crosby gets traded in the next 7-10 days? I believe there is,” Pelissero noted. “We’re not there yet in terms of a deal getting done, but almost every player has a price.”
He continued, “Even setting aside the frustrations Maxx has had with the constant churn and being shut down at the end of last season, he’s a 29-year-old star player who is still at his peak on a Raiders team that is probably going to be challenged over the next 1-2 years to really be competitive in a really tough division.”
“All of that, to me, tracks toward pushing this as far as you can, maximizing your leverage by saying we’re going to keep the guy here, see what type of calls you get. I’m not aware of the Raiders calling anyone. I do believe they are getting calls, and there is a possibility of Maxx Crosby getting traded between now and the start of the league year.”
The NFL league year and free agency signing period begin on March 11. Notably, the 2026 trading period starts at 4 p.m. that same day, after the 2025 contracts expire.
