Hiroshi Towa, 51, was referred to prosecutors on October 3rd on suspicion of stabbing and killing his former girlfriend, 33-year-old Arisa Sato, at his residence in Higashi-Osaka on October 1st.
An autopsy confirmed that Sato had multiple stab and cut wounds to her abdomen, back, and other areas of her body. Some wounds penetrated her liver, and the cause of death was determined to be massive blood loss. Police also discovered two bloodstained kitchen knives near the body.
Towa has reportedly admitted to the crime, telling investigators: “My emotions suddenly exploded, and I stabbed her with the intent to kill.”
Those who knew the two expressed shock at the incident. “I still can’t believe it,” said an acquaintance. “They always seemed close. Arisa had a strong personality, and Towa looked like such a gentle person.”
However, Towa’s former wife described him as prone to sudden outbursts. “He would snap without warning. He once even threw the children. His bursts of violence were overwhelming,” she recalled.
Investigators believe Towa harbored a strong intent to kill and are continuing to probe his motives.
