**Indore Imposes Strict Restrictions on Heavy Vehicle Entry Following Fatal Truck Accident**
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In the wake of a recent truck accident that resulted in two fatalities, traffic police in Indore have introduced stringent restrictions on the entry of heavy vehicles into the city to enhance road safety.
On Tuesday, ACP (Traffic) Hindu Singh Muwel convened a meeting at Transport Nagar with representatives from the Indore Truck Operators and Transport Association. Several key decisions were made to regulate heavy vehicle movement and parking within the city limits.
Heavy vehicles will be prohibited from entering the city during the restricted hours of 9 am to 12 noon and 7 pm to 9 pm. Entry will only be permitted outside these times. However, certain exceptions have been carved out for vehicles involved in emergency and essential services, including fuel tankers, health and municipal services, milk supply, fruits and vegetables transportation, and goods related to public distribution.
Additionally, it was mandated that trucks currently parked on Nemawar Road — from Palda to Loha Mandi — must relocate to designated parking areas and avoid occupying roadside spaces to prevent congestion. No-entry signboards will be installed on restricted routes to ensure clarity and compliance.
To further ease city traffic disturbances, trucks will be allowed inside the city limits only between 11 pm and 6 am. Any violation of these timing restrictions will attract heavy fines.
Drivers have also been directed to carry complete and valid documents at all times, as regular checks will be conducted by traffic authorities to ensure adherence to transport rules.
These measures aim to improve road safety, reduce traffic snarls, and minimize the risk of accidents involving heavy vehicles in Indore. Drivers and transport operators are urged to cooperate fully with the new regulations for a safer city environment.
