**Market Cap of India’s Top 10 Firms Drops by ₹2.99 Lakh Crore**

The combined market capitalization of India’s top 10 most valued companies witnessed a sharp decline last week, tumbling by ₹2.99 lakh crore. This steep fall aligned with the overall bearish trend in the equity markets and was primarily driven by losses in Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the country’s leading IT giant.
The benchmark BSE index also reflected this downturn, plunging by 2,199.77 points, or 2.66%, during the same period.
### Major Valuation Declines Among Top Companies
Among the top 10 firms, TCS endured the largest hit, with its market cap dropping by ₹97,597.91 crore to ₹10,49,281.56 crore. Reliance Industries also faced significant losses, with its valuation falling by ₹40,462.09 crore to ₹18,64,436.42 crore.
Infosys’ market capitalization declined by ₹38,095.78 crore, bringing it down from ₹6,01,805.25 crore.
### Banking Sector Impacted
The banking sector was not spared in the downturn. HDFC Bank’s market cap plummeted by ₹33,032.97 crore to ₹14,51,783.29 crore, while ICICI Bank’s valuation decreased by ₹29,646.78 crore to ₹9,72,007.68 crore.
### Other Notable Losses
Bharti Airtel’s valuation fell by ₹26,030.11 crore, and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) saw a decrease of ₹13,693.62 crore, lowering its market cap to ₹5,51,919.30 crore.
Hindustan Unilever’s market capitalization dropped by ₹11,278.04 crore to ₹5,89,947.12 crore. Bajaj Finance also experienced a decline of ₹4,977.99 crore from its previous ₹6,12,914.73 crore valuation.
Finally, the State Bank of India’s (SBI) market cap slipped by ₹4,846.07 crore to ₹7,91,063.93 crore at the time of reporting.
