Pune Metro Line 3: Shivajinagar-Hinjawadi Route Nears Completion; Final Parameter Making Underway In Baner

**Pune Metro Line 3 Construction Nears Completion: Third Rail Installation Underway**

The construction of Pune Metro Line 3, which will connect Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar, is entering its final stages. Currently, the ‘parameter making’ process is underway in Baner, a crucial phase that involves installing the track’s final alignment. This step ensures precise positioning, enabling optimal train movement along the route.

Simultaneously, the installation of the third rail system is progressing steadily. According to reports, this marks a significant milestone as Pune Metro Line 3 will be the first metro line in Maharashtra to incorporate this advanced technology. Operating at 750V DC, the third rail system offers enhanced efficiency and reliability, setting Line 3 apart from other metro lines in the Pune region.

The elevated 23.3 km Pink Line is expected to commence operations by March 2026. Metro officials have reported that 95% of construction work is scheduled for completion by December 2025. The line will feature 23 stations, including major stops such as Shivajinagar, Aundh, Baner, Balewadi, and Hinjawadi, greatly improving connectivity between Pune’s central areas and its IT hubs.

The integration of the third rail system is anticipated to enhance performance and contribute to a more sustainable urban transportation network. As the project approaches completion, residents and commuters express growing anticipation for the improved connectivity.

Once operational, Line 3 is expected to significantly alleviate traffic congestion in Pune’s busy IT corridors, offering a reliable and efficient transit option for daily travelers.
