**General Information Required:**
– Your full name
– Address (City, State, Zip Code)
– Phone number
– An alternate phone number (if any)
**Obituary Specifications:**
– Name of the deceased
– Obituary text
– A photo in JPEG or PDF format is preferred; TIF and other file types are also accepted. We will contact you if there are any issues with the photo.
– Ad run dates — if you plan to run the obituary for more than one day, please schedule all dates with the first run date to receive a discount. If a photo is included, it must be used on all days to qualify for the discount. Contact us for more details.
**Policies:**
– **Verification of Death:**
To publish obituaries, we require the name and phone number of the funeral home or cremation society handling the arrangements. We will contact them during business hours to verify the death.
If the deceased’s body has been donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program or a similar program, please provide that program’s contact information for verification. Keep in mind weekend hours may be limited.
Alternatively, a death certificate is acceptable for verification. Only one of these verification options is necessary.
– **Guestbook and Outside Websites:**
We cannot reference other media sources, guestbooks, or obituaries placed elsewhere in print or online. However, we may include a website for the funeral home or a family email address for contact. Please contact us with any questions about this policy.
**Obituary Process:**
Once your submission is complete, we will send you a proof for review by fax or email before publication. This proof will include the price and scheduled run dates. Please review the proof carefully and notify us of any errors or changes before the obituary appears in the Pioneer Press, adhering to daily deadlines. We are not responsible for errors after final proof approval.
For changes to online obituaries, please contact the obituary desk directly.
**Payment Procedure:**
Pre-payment is required before publication and by the specified deadline. After you approve the proof, please call 651-228-5263 with your payment information.
Accepted payment methods:
– Credit card (payment accepted by phone only due to PCI regulations)
– EFT (please provide routing and account numbers by phone)
– Cash (accepted at our front counter Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM)
**Rates:**
– Minimum charge: $162 for the first 10 lines
– Each line over 10 lines: $12.20 per line
– If the ad is fewer than 10 lines, the minimum charge of $162 applies
– On a second run date, all lines are $8.20 each, starting with the first line
– Example: First run of 20 lines costs $164
– Photos are charged at $125 each per day
– Example: 2 photos published over 2 days equals 4 photo charges totaling $500
**Deadlines:**
Please adhere to deadline times to ensure your obituary is published on the requested day. Please note that no exceptions are made regarding deadlines for ads and photos.
**Memoriam (Non-Obituary) Requests:**
Memoriam submissions are remembrances of loved ones who have passed and have different rates from obituaries. For more information, please call 651-228-5280 or email us.
