Lenny Kravitz rocks out at ‘monumental’ homecoming concert to kick off Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival

Rocker Lenny Kravitz made his triumphant Bahamas-performance debut to kick off the 4th annual Culinary & Arts Festival on Friday. “This is the first time we’re playing on home turf,” an emotional Kravitz, whose maternal grandfather was born in the Bahamas, told the crowd of chefs, celebrities, and adoring fans.

Kravitz performed his biggest hits during the 90-minute set at Baha Mar in Nassau, including fan favorites like “Fly Away,” “It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over,” and “Are You Gonna Go My Way.” “This is monumental for me,” the Grammy winner said during the “Taste of Baha Mar” welcome party.

Despite the Caribbean heat, Kravitz rocked the outdoor stage wearing a leather jacket, low-rise jeans, and a gold metallic top. He accessorized the look with layers of necklaces and a pair of oversized sunglasses, which he kept on throughout the concert, even though the show ran from 10:30 p.m. to midnight.

Celebrity chefs Scott Conant, Amanda Freitag, Marcus Samuelsson, Geoffrey Zakarian, and more sang and danced along to every song. Actress Tia Mowry was overheard excitedly gushing about meeting Kravitz after the show. Lucky guests staying at the Grand Hyatt hotel even flocked to their balconies to watch the outdoor performance from afar.

Earlier in the evening, attendees sampled delicious foods from Baha Mar’s notable restaurants, including Conant’s new Italian eatery Leola, sushi hotspot Katsuya, master butcher Dario Cecchini’s Carna, and Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud’s Café Boulud. Boulud also hosted a special 5-course truffle dinner at his restaurant at Rosewood Baha Mar two nights prior to the welcome party.

The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival, which kicked off Wednesday and runs through Sunday, offers foodies an opportunity to experience exclusive culinary events, including master classes, demos, private dinners, and intimate conversations with high-profile chefs.

The festival’s welcome parties have featured legendary performers in previous years, with Sting and Rod Stewart headlining the 2023 and 2024 events, respectively. The festival is also home to the 3rd annual FUZE Art Expo, a unique showcase where Caribbean artists display their works.

With a vibrant blend of music, art, and gourmet cuisine, the 4th annual Culinary & Arts Festival is proving to be a must-attend event in the Bahamas this year.
