Jennifer Lawrence asked Robert Pattinson about Donald Trump’s rant over Kristen Stewart cheating scandal

Jennifer Lawrence recently revealed that she asked Robert Pattinson about the infamous cheating scandal involving his ex, Kristen Stewart—a scandal that even Donald Trump famously weighed in on back in 2012.

The actress was promoting her and Pattinson’s new film, *Die My Love*, during the Thursday episode of *The Graham Norton Show* when she surprisingly brought up the breakup saga that had dominated headlines over a decade ago.

“I mean, if you think I didn’t ask him about Donald Trump tweeting about the breakup with Kristen, obviously,” Lawrence said when discussing how both she and Pattinson achieved massive fame early in their careers, starring in the *Hunger Games* and *Twilight* franchises, respectively.

She continued, “It was, like, three days after the photos came out with her with, you know, whatever. Young people make mistakes. And Donald Trump was like, ‘He better leave her. He can do better than her,’ going on a huge rant.”

The audience burst into laughter, with fellow guest Jeremy Allen White admitting, “I don’t remember that at all!” Tessa Thompson also joked, “That’s like a different kind of ‘I made it,’ you know?”

For context, Kristen Stewart, 35, and Robert Pattinson, 39, began dating in 2009 after meeting on the set of *Twilight*. However, in 2012, Stewart was photographed kissing and embracing her *Snow White and the Huntsman* director, Rupert Sanders, who was married to Liberty Ross at the time.

Following the incident, Stewart issued a public apology to Pattinson:
“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”

Rupert Sanders also released a statement expressing his remorse:
“I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.”

Donald Trump weighed in on Twitter (now known as X), criticizing Stewart in multiple posts:
“[Kristen] cheated on him like a dog and will do it again just watch. He can do much better,” Trump wrote at the time.

Despite the scandal, Pattinson and Stewart reconciled but eventually ended their relationship for good in 2013. Ross filed for divorce from Sanders that same year, with their divorce finalized a year later.

In a February 2024 interview with *Rolling Stone*, Stewart openly criticized Trump’s involvement in the controversy:
“Of course he had to weigh in on my tarring and feathering. It’s like, ‘What is this 20-year-old who has no idea about life doing to this man?’” she said.
She added bluntly, “F-k you, b-h!”
