Battlefield 6 has finally overhauled Challenges and Assignments so the majority of players can actually unlock those Class Training Paths and weapons

Battlefield 6 has just received a server-side update that is bound to make the game’s entire player base happy—or at least those who had been waiting for it after the developer first discussed plans for it. The long-awaited overhaul of many of the game’s Challenges and Assignments is finally here, altering the requirements for most of them to something that mere mortals can actually achieve.

One of the loudest criticisms Battlefield 6 faced at its launch was its poor progression system, which we also highlighted in our BF6 review. This issue was multi-faceted, which is why it took weeks to resolve what is likely the hardest part of it. BF6 had very slow XP earn rates, particularly for weapons. BF Studios addressed this in a major patch, but they mentioned that changing the requirements for Challenges and Assignments would take additional time.

Previously, many of the Challenges had incredibly lengthy requirements, and some were so specific that players created Portal servers just to complete them. An even bigger problem was that Class Training Paths and several weapons were locked behind these Challenges, making them functionally unavailable to most players.

Well, the time has now come to fix this mess. In a new blog post, BF Studios explained that the old requirements emphasized time investment over actual mastery. Data and player feedback made it clear that these requirements were far too overtuned.

Importantly, the tweaking of these requirements will not reset any progress you’ve already made. Players simply need to play one match for the updates to take effect—their existing progress will carry over, so there’s no need to start over.

Some of the notable changes in this update include:

– The complete overhaul of class unblock challenges for Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon. This means players can finally access the other Training Paths.
– Simplified requirements for Weapon Assignments.
– Reduced and clarified descriptions and requirements for Mode/Unit Assignments.
– Adjusted “do this much in a life” Challenges so you can now complete them within a single life.

While this week’s update doesn’t address every challenge or assignment, it does cover the majority of them. The remaining cases are expected to be addressed in future updates.

In total, this latest sweep brings over 90 adjustments—changes that are sure to affect almost every player. With these improvements, Battlefield 6’s progression system is now much more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
