New York City Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani appeared to have an awkward reaction when informed about the death of former Vice President Dick Cheney. When told the news, Zohran simply asked, “When did that happen?” and then nodded before returning to his campaigning after learning Cheney died earlier that morning.
The Democrat began his busy Election Day by voting alongside his wife, Rama Duwaji, at a local school. Following the vote, he held a brief news conference outside, wearing an “I Voted” sticker on the left lapel of his dark gray suit jacket.
Afterwards, Mamdani continued his day with several television and radio appearances.
Social media users quickly responded to the news and Mamdani’s reaction. One user joked, “His wife making the ‘huh! that’s neat. anyways,’ face,” referencing Duwaji’s expression and nod. Another wrote, “If ‘Damn, that’s crazy’ was a person,” commenting on Mamdani’s understated response. A third user added, “Lol, so basically no reaction.”
