The No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies dismantled the No. 22 Missouri Tigers 38-17 on the road at Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field on Saturday. With this dominant win, the Aggies improved to 9-0 for the first time since 1992, went 6-0 in conference play for the first time since 1998, and are 6-0 in SEC play for the first time ever.
Behind a balanced offense and a suffocating defense, Texas A&M overpowered Missouri in every phase of the game. Quarterback Marcel Reed once again looked in complete control, completing 20 of 29 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Rueben Owens II led the ground game with 102 yards and two scores on just 13 carries. Wide receiver KC Concepcion was the top target among wideouts, hauling in 84 yards including a key 48-yard touchdown reception early in the third quarter that effectively turned the game into a formality.
A&M’s offense amassed a total of 464 yards and converted seven of 14 third-down attempts, controlling possession for nearly 12 minutes longer than Missouri. On the defensive side, the Aggies limited the Tigers to only 284 total yards — with just 77 passing yards — and forced two crucial turnovers.
The turning point of the game came late in the second quarter. With A&M leading 7-0, Missouri quarterback Matt Zollers, a true freshman making his first collegiate start, was hit mid-throw by linebacker Daymion Sanford, causing a fumble. Safety Dalton Brooks scooped up the loose ball and sprinted to the Missouri 2-yard line, setting up E.J. Smith’s 1-yard touchdown run with 20 seconds remaining before halftime.
Just minutes into the third quarter, the Aggies struck again. Following a Missouri three-and-out, Reed connected with Concepcion on a quick slant that turned into a 48-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 21-0. From there, Texas A&M’s dominance was unquestioned.
Brooks, who recovered the earlier fumble, showcased his versatility with a 48-yard run on a perfectly executed fake punt midway through the third quarter. This big play set up Randy Bond’s 32-yard field goal, pushing the lead to 24-7. Brooks finished the game with six tackles and was instrumental in two of the contest’s biggest turning points.
Missouri managed a brief offensive spark with a 4-yard rushing touchdown by Jamal Roberts and a 45-yard touchdown pass to Ahmad Hardy. However, A&M’s relentless offense quickly put the game out of reach. Owens broke free for a 57-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter to make it 31-10, and later capped the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown to finalize the score at 38-17.
On defense, Sanford led the team with five tackles, including a sack and two tackles for loss. Linebackers Tyler Onyedim and Cashius Howell each recorded five tackles. Howell’s strip sack marked his 10.5 sacks on the season, continuing his impressive pass-rushing performance.
This win keeps Texas A&M flawless on the season while maintaining their strong chance at the SEC title game. Heading into Week 11, the Aggies are tied with Alabama atop the conference standings, with Georgia, Texas, and Ole Miss each sitting just one game back.
Up next, Texas A&M will host South Carolina in their final SEC home game of the season on Saturday.
