1958 MG MGA Roadster

This 1958 MG MGA 1500 roadster underwent refurbishment under previous ownership in Texas between 2003 and 2005. It was then purchased by the seller’s father in the late 2000s before being acquired by the seller in 2015.

Power comes from a 1,489cc inline-four engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car is finished in classic red over a tan interior and features a tonneau cover, side mirrors, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, drum brakes, dual SU carburetors, and lap belts.

Since late 2024, the fuel tank, fuel pump, battery, and fluids have reportedly been replaced. The vehicle was repainted red during the earlier refurbishment. It is now offered with refurbishment photos, service records, a worn convertible top and side curtains, and an Arizona title in the seller’s name.

Exterior highlights include a bright body-contour grille, fender-mounted side mirrors, and bright front and rear bumpers with bumperettes. The tan cockpit tonneau cover was replaced in 2020. A worn black convertible top and side curtains accompany the car and are shown in the gallery below.

The MGA sits on silver-painted 15″ knock-off wire wheels, mounted with 165/80 Nankang CX-668 tires bearing date codes from 2015. According to the seller, the wheels, tires, and rear wheel hubs were replaced in 2016.

The car features an independent front suspension with coil springs and hydraulic dampers as well as a rack-and-pinion steering system. Four-wheel drum brakes provide stopping power.

Inside, the bucket seats have been retrimmed in tan upholstery and are accented by a matching center armrest and door panels. The interior also includes a body-color dashboard, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, lap belts, door-panel map pockets, and black carpeting. The seller notes that the heater requires refurbishment.

The banjo-style steering wheel is mounted to an adjustable column and fronts Jaeger instrumentation, including a 120-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature.

The five-digit odometer reads approximately 4,000 miles, with around 3,500 of those miles added during current ownership. This mileage reflects the distance driven since the engine was rebuilt; true mileage is unknown. The fuel gauge is currently non-functional.

The 15GB 1,489cc B-series inline-four engine has been rebuilt and is equipped with dual SU carburetors. The fuel tank and fuel pump were replaced in late 2024, while the battery and fluids were updated in early 2025, according to the seller. The engine tag is shown above.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission. Additional refurbishment photos are available in the gallery.
