**“ZERO Chemistry”: 47 Wildly Awkward Fictional Couples Who Never, Ever Should’ve Gotten Together**
“Their scenes together as a couple were almost physically painful to watch.”
Recently, we wrote about fictional couples where the actors, unfortunately, had ZERO chemistry. Members of the BuzzFeed Community submitted even more examples! So, without further ado, here are 47 TV and movie couples whose spark couldn’t light a match if their lives depended on it. We’ve also included comments from the original post.

1. **Mark and Helly from *Severance*.** Both Marks had so much more chemistry with Ms. Casey.
2. **Joey and Rachel from *Friends*.** A list like this is incomplete without them. That writing almost ruined the last two seasons; it makes me mad just thinking about it!
3. **Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in *Murder Mystery*.** I love them both, and I know they’re best friends in real life, but I just didn’t buy them as a couple. I couldn’t even get into the movie because it bothered me so badly.
4. **Noah Reid and Dan Levy in *Schitt’s Creek*.** I love the show, and their characters clearly care about each other, but I didn’t feel any romantic chemistry.
5. **Sam Neill with Nicole Kidman in *Dead Calm*.** Sam Neill was 20 years older than Nicole Kidman—41 vs. 21 when the movie was released in 1989. It was uncomfortable and weird even by 1989 standards.
6. **Will Smith and Margot Robbie in *Focus*.** Their chemistry felt off. I’ve liked each of them in other roles, but here their romantic spark didn’t work for me.
7. **Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts in *The Mexican*.** I absolutely loved Brad Pitt’s side of the movie but hated Julia Roberts’ side. She overplayed her role, and the two were not a good pairing.
8. **Belly and Conrad from *The Summer I Turned Pretty* (the show).** Am I really the only one who doesn’t buy this couple?
9. **Belly and Jeremiah from *The Summer I Turned Pretty*.** I also didn’t buy them. Jeremiah is a well-rounded character with depth; Conrad is just a brooding presence that barely adds to the story.
10. **Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts in *Notting Hill*.** Zero chemistry, and as a bonus, I don’t even understand why the characters like each other.
11. **Emily VanCamp and Matt Czuchry in *The Resident*.** I loved her in *Revenge*, but since she married her co-star from that show, she just can’t force chemistry with anyone else.
12. **Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington in *Game of Thrones*.** You could tell they never had a chemistry read together.
13. **George and Nick in *Nancy Drew*.** Nick and Nancy had great chemistry, but George and Nick felt forced and sappy. The writing didn’t suit George’s character or the show’s tone.
14. **Phoebe and Mike in *Friends*.** Paul Rudd felt shoehorned in and just played himself. His boring character made zero sense for zany Phoebe, despite the writers’ attempts to explain it.
15. **Abby and John Carter on *ER*.** Abby always felt too sad for Carter, and their relationship almost felt sibling-like rather than romantic.
16. **Anne Heche and Harrison Ford in *Six Days, Seven Nights*.** Utterly unbelievable as a couple. I’m even unsure why they agreed to do the film.
17. **Gil and Sarah in *CSI*.** They work better as friends and in their work relationship. Their romantic storyline was pointless when Gil moved abroad for most of Season 9.
18. **Thirteen and Foreman from *House M.D.*.** ZERO chemistry onscreen, especially after Foreman’s betrayal in Season 5. Her relationship with her later girlfriend was much better.
19. **Shawn and Katy from *Girl Meets World*.** No chemistry and an odd pairing. Nothing about Katy seemed to intellectually stimulate Shawn, which was a key part of his character.
20. **Anakin and Padme in the *Star Wars* prequels.** Hayden did a great job playing angry, but the romantic scenes were almost physically painful to watch.
21. **Dan and Blair from *Gossip Girl*.** Literally the most annoying storyline on the show.
22. **Serena and Nate from *Gossip Girl*.**
23. **Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence in *Silver Linings Playbook*.** I just wasn’t buying it.
24. **Buffy and Angel from *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*.** The romance felt bland. Buffy had amazing chemistry with Spike, and Angel thrived with Cordelia and Darla.
25. **Michael and the prison doctor in *Prison Break*.** The chemistry was really off. I couldn’t believe he would derail his whole plan for her.
26. **Stefan and Elena in *The Vampire Diaries*.** Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev never sold ‘in love’ to me.
27. **Dr. Greene and Dr. Corday from *ER*.** Through no fault of their own, I just never bought it. It felt better close to his death but was a struggle in Seasons 5 and 6.
28. **Rick and Michonne from *The Walking Dead*.** Their relationship felt rushed and out of place. Rick had better chemistry with Daryl!
29. **Peter (James Denton) and Marisol (Ana Ortiz) in *Devious Maids*.** I wanted to like them, but it felt awkward compared to Peter’s other pairings.
30. **Jess and Nick from *New Girl*.** I just don’t get it!
31. **Johnny and Carmen from *Cobra Kai*.** Wanted to love them, but zero chemistry.
32. **Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie in *The Tourist*.** When one says “I love you,” the audience reaction is “WHY?”
33. **Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster in *Maverick*.** The worst chemistry I’ve ever seen.
34. **Mike and Eleven from *Stranger Things*.** I think Mike had better chemistry with Will.
35. **Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem in *Eat, Pray, Love*.** Painful chemistry to watch.
36. **Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby in *Fantastic Four*.** They only had friendly chemistry, even though their characters were supposed to be romantic and had a baby together.
37. **Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis in *Jupiter Ascending*.** Terrible chemistry made their roles unbelievable. Thank God for Eddie Redmayne!
38. **David Giuntoli and Bitsie Tulloch on *Grimm*.** Married in real life but had zero chemistry on the show. She was a better fit with Tyler Hoechlin on *Superman and Lois*.
39. **Bruce Dern and Mia Farrow in *The Great Gatsby*.** Didn’t make a good dysfunctional couple.
40. **Patrick and Theresa in *The Mentalist*.** Forced together in a final season that felt unnecessary. They had nothing going for them.
41. **Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney in *Terminator Genisys*.** Emilia couldn’t get Sarah Connor right and had no chemistry with Jai or Arnold.
42. **Carrie Bradshaw and Duncan in *And Just Like That*.** Do actors not do chemistry screen tests anymore? This is what happens when ego overrides the art.
43. **Steve McGarrett and Catherine from *Hawaii Five-0*.** They didn’t seem to like each other at all.
44. **Katniss and Peeta from *The Hunger Games*.**
45. **Shelley Hennig and Dylan O’Brien as Stiles and Malia on *Teen Wolf*.**
46. **Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo in *Avengers: Age of Ultron*.** They each had wild chemistry with every other character except each other.
47. **Brad Pitt and Kerry Condon in *F1: The Movie*.**
