Trump underwent heart and abdomen MRI in October, White House confirms

**Trump’s Doctor Confirms October MRI Scans as Part of Preventative Screening**

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump’s doctor has confirmed that the president underwent MRI imaging of his heart and abdomen in October as part of a preventative screening for men his age. This information comes from a memo released by the White House on Monday.

Sean Barbabella, Trump’s physician, stated in the memo that the president’s physical exam included “advanced imaging” typical for an “executive physical” in Trump’s age group. The cardiovascular and abdominal imaging results were described as “perfectly normal.”

“The purpose of this imaging is preventative: to identify issues early, confirm overall health, and ensure he maintains long-term vitality and function,” Barbabella wrote.

The White House released the memo following Trump’s announcement on Sunday that he would share the results of the scan. While Trump and the White House acknowledged the scan was a routine part of his physical examination, they had previously declined to specify why Trump underwent an MRI in October at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center or which part of his body was scanned.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt commented Monday on the memo’s release, saying, “I think that’s quite a bit of detail.”

During an exchange with reporters while returning to Washington from Florida on Sunday, Trump described the MRI results as “perfect.”

“If you want to have it released, I’ll release it,” Trump said. He also added that he has “no idea” which part of his body the MRI targeted. “It was just an MRI,” he explained. “What part of the body? It wasn’t the brain because I took a cognitive test and I aced it.”

Medical experts note that MRIs are typically ordered to diagnose symptoms or monitor ongoing health issues. Preventive cardiac and abdominal MRIs are not part of standard screening recommendations.

What Trump’s doctor referred to as an “executive physical” generally involves additional, non-routine tests — including MRIs — that are often costly, not covered by insurance, and marketed to affluent individuals seeking comprehensive health evaluations.
